Spain may not have as many fashion powerhouses as the likes of Italy and France but this country is home to many renowned designers; to name a few – Loewe, Adolfo Domínguez, Manolo Blahnik, Bimba Y Lola and Balenciaga.
During our stay in Barcelona, we were also on the hunt for outfit ideas hot off the streets of the fashion capital of Spain.
Here are five trendy outfit items commonly sported by the Barcelonians:
Blanket scarf

Take a leaf from the ideals of Barcelona’s very own architectural genius (hint: cathedral under construction for more than 130 years) and choose an accessory big on both design and function.
It is sure to keep you chic and cosy at the same time.
Long tweed coat

This look isn’t just for the office – a tweed coat thrown over any outfit will immediately elevate its style quotient.

Round off your outfit with an accessory featuring the increasingly popular animal motifs – especially this adorable kitten and puppy pairing which is guaranteed to make any animal-lover squeal in delight.
Chunky dad sneakers

The hottest style of footwear at the moment will add an edgy touch to a simple outfit.
It is comfortable, yet guaranteed to be a headturner.
Even while pushing through the crowds at one of the Mercados, we spotted a lady rocking an extremely instagrammable pair of pink Triple S trainers.
Plaid

A simple well-made plaid shirt is casual and never goes out of style.
And the checks print looks great on shirts, dresses, scarves… basically everything.
Denim jacket

A light denim jacket ought to come in handy for those warmer winter days
It is a wardrobe classic and can be worn season after season; although the oversized variant is currently trending.
